Dr. Matt Johnson is a licensed physical therapist and clinical director at Neuromuscular Diagnostics, specializing in electrodiagnostic testing, including Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) studies. He is one of the few physical therapists in Illinois trained and certified in these advanced diagnostic techniques.
He is also residency-trained in clinical electrophysiology through Hands-On Diagnostics—one of only two electrodiagnostic residency programs for physical therapists in the United States and accredited by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS).
Dr. Johnson earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and completed an orthopedic residency before obtaining board certification in orthopedics—an achievement held by fewer than 8% of U.S. physical therapists. In 2017, he was named a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (AAOMPT), one of only 80 in Illinois.
He has extensive experience treating neuromuscular and orthopedic conditions, working with everyone from weekend athletes to professionals. His approach blends advanced diagnostics, manual therapy, and evidence-based care to help patients recover faster and move better.
